How do you determine pricing?

At Smoke & Mirrors Tattoo Co, we offer competitive pricing based on the size, complexity, and placement of your tattoo. Our artists use personalised forms to gather all the information they need to provide you with a detailed quote that's tailored to your unique design. Our studio minimum price is $100 for bookings approx 20 mins long. This covers our set up costs as we use a completely new set up for each client in order to maintain strict infection control standards and practice. Each Artist is a sole trader and sets their own prices. It is at the Artist’s discretion if they would like to charge per piece or an hourly rate, however each Artist will have a set rate for half days and full day bookings. Please consult your preferred Artist for their specific pricing.

How do I care for my tattoo?

Your artist will go through their preferred method for how they'd like you to care for your new tattoo during your tattoo booking.   We also have handy brochures and stock after care cream in the studio. We prefer to offer 'Hustle Butter' as it's great on sensitive skin, is a dream to apply and smells amazing.  For more information on how to care for your tattoo, check out blog post "Healing a tattoo without Saniderm".

Does a tattoo hurt?

The honest answer is, yes, a bit, but it's a totally bearable experience for most and we've even had the odd unicorn who manages to fall asleep during their tattoo session. The level of discomfort really depends on where you're getting inked. Some spots, like the ribs, spine, and ankles, can be more sensitive because they're boney or close to nerves. On the flip side, areas like the outer arm or thigh are quite relaxing. The style of the tattoo, the machine we use, and our technique also play huge roles. For instance, shading might feel less intense than detailed line work, and the latest tattoo machines are designed to be as gentle as possible.

Do you sell aftercare products?

Yes, we offer a variety of aftercare products to ensure your tattoo heals properly. During your consultation, we'll provide you with information on which products are best for your tattoo.

How long does a tattoo take to heal?

Generally, it takes about 2 weeks for the surface to heal, but the skin beneath might take slightly longer.   Fineline and delicate styled tattoos will heal more quickly compared to a style with heavy saturation and thicker lines such as full colour, traditional designs. After your tattoo has stopped peeling, similar to a sun burn, it will still be settling into the dermis, the 2nd layer. Your body actually recognises the ink as foreign and begins to try and remove it which is why your tattoo will lighten gradually over time.

Do you do colour tattoos?

Yes, we specialize in a wide range of artistic and customized tattoo services, including color tattoos. During your consultation, we'll work with you to create a unique and personalized design that reflects your individual style and preferences.
